Video: 15 missiles intercepted at once by Israel’s Iron Dome

Featured on reddit’s Videos page, the 1:30 clip reportedly shows Israeli residents finding shelter before the camera turns to the sky. Qassam missiles arc across the air, but later in the clip they blow up, reportedly intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome.

Sirens blare during the entire incident.

It’s unclear where or exactly when the interception occurred. The video was uploaded today by pro-Israel, anti-Hamas YouTube channel called Sin, Newsweek notes.

Iron Dome, featured prominently in this year’s Gaza-Israel conflict, is an air defence system used to intercept and annihilate short-range rockets, artillery shells and mortars fired from distances of up to 45 miles.

It can track a rocket as it is fired across the border into Israel, and then uses advanced software to predict the rocket’s trajectory. “The information it provides is used to guide Tamir interceptor missiles, which are fired from the ground to blow the rocket into harmless pieces in the sky,” the Week writes.

The video below succinctly explains how Iron Dome technology works:
