JRK Washington Highlights The Best Family Attractions In Tacoma Washington

(PRUnderground) August 19th, 2020

Over almost 30 years JRK Washington, a leading developer with properties in 20 states, has become one of the most innovative players in the residential and hotel sector. When it came time to look for the site of its newest development, a planned luxury apartment, they knew that choosing the right location would be crucial. As JRK says: “It’s a landmark project that seeks to redefine what apartment living could be. Aside from giving residents upscale amenities, we also wanted to give them a home that was a jump-off point to many fun activities.”

That project would become Boulders at Puget Sound and its location would be Tacoma. Accessibility is one of the key benefits of living in Tacoma, as it is very near Route 16, I-705 and I-5. The city also lies between two iconic cities: Portland and Seattle. This unparalleled location gives residents plenty of attractions to choose from without ever venturing too far.

Boulders at Puget Sound: Where your Tacoma adventure begins

Tacoma is a port city and is the seat of Pierce County, Washington. Its strategic location was recognized early on when it was chosen as the western terminus of the North Pacific Railroad. Today, it’s a bustling place that offers the serenity of nature and the urban conveniences of a city to residents of Boulders at Puget Sound.

There are many excellent attractions around the city that require only a short drive. Make sure these spots are part of the itinerary:

Puget Sound

One cannot speak about Boulders at Puget Sound without talking about its namesake. The sound is an inlet in the Pacific Northwest, and is one of the area’s top destinations. It’s the perfect venue for various water activities, including swimming, kayaking, and diving. There are also various attractions around the Puget Sound, such as the landscaped gardens of Bainbridge Island or the scenic trails in Discovery Park. The area is also home to fascinating museums, like Fort Worden Historical State Park where one can see restored Victorian-era officers’ homes.

Titlow Beach

Just a short walk from the apartment is Titlow Beach, a family friendly attraction that boasts of a boardwalk, community center, and water play area. It has a clear view of the majestic Tacoma Narrows Bridge and the calming waters of the Puget Sound. The beach is the perfect place to sunbathe or take a refreshing dip, while the nearby park is a popular attraction for young kids. It’s also a popular diving site among locals, especially during high slack right before the high or low tide. When the waters are still, one might just have a close encounter with local aquatic life, such giant barnacles, wolf eel, and perhaps even a giant Pacific octopus.

Tacoma Narrows Bridge

Rising majestically over the Tacoma horizon is Narrows Bridge, a twin suspension bridge that is currently the fifth longest bridge of its kind in the country. Ferrying some 90,000 vehicles each day, this marvel of engineering connects the city of Tacoma to the Kitsap Peninsula. The bridge itself has a colorful history, too. Its first incarnation was built in 1940 and was at the time the third-longest suspension bridge in the world. But just four months later, the bridge collapsed after a windstorm hit. Today, the remains of that old bridge are submerged in the Puget Sound, ultimately becoming one of the world’s largest man-made reefs.

Chambers Bay Golf Course

Golf lovers will feel right at home in Tacoma, thanks to the Chambers Bay Golf Course. Home to the 2015 U.S. Open, this 18-hole, walking-only course gives players an authentic links golfing experience. If the expansive greens and towering sand dunes aren’t impressive enough, players are also treated to breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains. Chambers Bay is a public course, meaning one doesn’t have to pay exorbitant membership fees just to experience its fairways. Beginners can also enroll at its world-class academy to improve their game.

W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory

Have a green thumb? Then the W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory is the attraction for you. Situated in Wright Park in the historic Stadium District, this destination is one of just three public Victorian-style conservatories on the West Coast. Its crowning feature is the central dome, a 12-sided architectural masterpiece that has 3,000 panes of glass. Inside are some 250 species of exotic plants, including orchids, palms, rhododendrons, ferns, and bromeliads. The building was dedicated in 1908 and is part of both the state and national historic registers.

Five Mile Drive and Trails

Five Mile Drive and Trails offers Tacoma residents a welcome escape into nature. The trails here range from ¼ mile to 4 ½ miles, and pass through old-growth forest, beaches, cliffs, and a rhododendron garden. You’ll be treated to wonderful views of Puget Sound, Vashon Island, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. If lucky, a person may even be able to spot local wildlife like mule deer, red foxes, squirrels, and raccoons. The trail is open year round. It is dog-friendly and suitable for hikers of all skill levels.

JRK Washington welcomes tenants to Tacoma
