Burt Brothers Tire and Service Celebrates Oldest Employee’s 78th Birthday

Utah’s largest independent local tire dealer honors man who came out of retirement to serve the company for nearly 20 years and counting

(PRUnderground) August 13th, 2020

When Keith Kammerman applied for a job with Burt Brothers in 2001, he was no novice. The 58-year-old had served as a U.S. Marine, bookkeeper, cattle rancher and volunteer fireman and logged 20 years in the tire industry working for Goodyear Tire and Rubber.

He had tried retirement but quickly got bored and decided to re-enter the workforce as a Burt Brothers Tire and Service associate. Nearly 20 years later, the tire dealership is celebrating Keith’s 78th birthday and honoring him as their oldest employee.

As the largest local independent tire retailer in Utah, Burt Brothers has 12 locations along the Wasatch Front. The family-owned and operated business provides customers with a huge selection of all-season and winter tires as well as bumper-to-bumper auto service.

Owner Jeremy Burt said that Keith personifies the company’s consistency and local touch. “We pride ourselves in our low turnover rate and connection to the communities that we serve,” said Jeremy. “Keith is the face of that at our stores. In his two decades of services, customers and fellow employees have come to appreciate his familiar smile, his expertise, and the fact that he can always be counted on.”

Keith has served in many capacities at Burt Brothers, including store manager, bookkeeper, and inventory manager. He balances his work with family time, which he spends with Donna, his wife of 53 years, and his nine children, 23 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Keith shows up at 5 am every morning for work — just one indicator of his work ethic. “Age has not slowed Keith down,” said Jeremy. “He continues to be known for his energy and dedication. He’s a model team member. As long as he wants to work, there will be a place for him at Burt Brothers.”

Burt Brothers offers a wide variety of tires from top manufacturers at its tire stores in Farmington, Bountiful, downtown Salt Lake City, Sugar House, Cottonwood, West Jordan, Sandy, Draper, Riverton, Highland, Jeremy Ranch, and Silver Summit. They also provide alignments, brake repair, wheel and tire care, oil changes, and heating and cooling services.

Founded in Bountiful by brothers Ron and Wendel Burt in 1991, the company maintains close ties to Utah communities and gives back through its sponsorship of “Teacher Feature” — a Zions Bank and KSL initiative that honors the state’s best teachers — and the Bountiful Rotary Club’s Coats for Kids program.
