Review: Watch this band stun with Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ on cello (Includes first-hand account)

Their instrumental cover of Metallica’s smash hit single “Enter Sandman” is a true work of musical art that will certainly feel their fans and listeners in goosebumps. They are pure geniuses in being able to fuse classical music with heavy metal music.

Apocalyptica is made up of the following band members: Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen, all of which play the cello, and Mikko Sirén on the drums.

They will be releasing Cell-0, their first new studio album in four years, and their first all-instrumental studio offering in 17 years, on January 10, 2020, via Silver Lining Music.

The Verdict

Overall, Apocalyptica does a superb job covering Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” on cello. Hard rock juxtaposed with classical music never sounded more remarkable.

Particularly impressive about this rousing rendition of “Enter Sandman” is that their cellos sound exactly as electric guitars, and that is meant as a compliment. It garners an A rating. Hopefully, this is a harbinger that their forthcoming studio album, Cell-0 should be bright and promising as well.
