Review: Todd Carey delivers on full-length project ‘Future Throwback’ (Includes first-hand account)

It opens with his smash single, the infectious and upbeat “Nintendo,” which has a retro vibe to it. He shows his sassy side on the laid-back “Light Her Up” and it is followed by his single “Ready.”

“Dead and Gone” has a neat groove to it, coupled with soaring melodies. “Come Everyone” is upbeat and fun, while “OMG” is more mellow, where his vocals are slightly reminiscent of Cody Simpson meets Bruno Mars. He literally crushes “I’m Taking Over,” while
“My Kind of Crazy” is soothing, coupled with acoustic instrumentation. “Forget Ya” is more spitfire, and it closes with “Think It’s Love” and the nonchalant “Right Words.”

His album is available on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, Todd Carey’s Future Throwback album is a very versatile musical effort, thus making it hard to pick a favorite recordings. No two songs on there have the same identities. It is worth more than just a passing glance, and “Nintendo” alone is worth the price of the album. Carey’s new CD garners two thumbs up.
