Review: Ryan Cabrera dazzles at NYCB Theatre at Westbury for ‘My2K’ tour (Includes first-hand account)

Following O-Town’s opening set, Cabrera was the second act to take the stage, accompanying himself on guitar, where he opened with “House on Fire.” “Look at this beautiful place,” he said, praising the venue.

He immediately broke into “40 Kinds of Sadness,” and continued to express his admiration towards Westbury. He went on to sing his love song “True,” and he explained that he is feeling lucky that he may be able to find his future wife at Westbury tonight.

Cabrera fulfilled a song request for a “good friend” and went on to dedicate his catchy tune “Exit to Exit” to that person, and incorporated it as a medley with Goo Goo Dolls’ “Slide.” He went on to premiere his new song “Whatever, Whenever,” and his fans really got into it. “You sang a song and you didn’t even know it,” he said, in awe of its warm reception. A pleasant treat was when he threw Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” in his set with his distinct rendition.

He closed his show with his smash hit “On the Way Down,” which was well-received by all, and while he broke one of his guitar strings, he switched over to a different acoustic guitar and completed the song.

The Verdict

Overall, Ryan Cabrera was able to impress at the NYCB Theatre with his upbeat show, velvet vocals and guitar playing. His set garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars.
