Review: Markus Schulz amazing at Electric Zoo: The 6th Boro in New York (Includes first-hand account)

Schulz played at their Riverside stage for a great turnout of electronic fans. His 75-minute set included songs from his critically-acclaimed Watch the World album and newer songs and remixes.

His stage was elaborate, with neat video graphics, as lyrics were displayed on screen for such gorgeous tracks as “Destiny,” featuring the ethereal voice of Delacey, and in his remix of Norwegian DJ Alan Walker’s “Faded.”

Throughout the duration of his spectacular show, he expressed his love for his trance family, and reminded them that “we are one family.” “I love you,” he said, graciously.

Schulz
closed his set with a superb remix of Linkin Park’s “In the End,” as white laser lights dimmed from the stage, thus being a fitting homage to the late Chester Bennington, where he was able to introduce the song to a younger generation of electronic dance music fans and listeners. The track kicked off in an upbeat mode and ended in a subtle and ambient fashion.

“Markus Schulz’ set revisited some classics that energized people and immediately had them in a trance,” said Herman Canosa, dedicated electronic music fan. “He was engaging as always, but the music and his carefully thought-out set-list flowed flawlessly.”

The Verdict

In summation, Markus Schulz epitomizes what contemporary trance music is all about: passion for the craft, quality of the music, and love for his listeners. Tonight, he showcased all three. Well done. His set garnered an A rating.
