By Markos Papadatos     Nov 6, 2016 in Music
Country legend Lynn Anderson was honored at the 2016 Country Music Association (CMA) awards that were held on November 2.
Garth Brooks, who went on to win the CMA award for "Entertainer of the Year," and his wife, country songstress Trisha Yearwood, paid tribute to Lynn Anderson by performing her signature song "Rose Garden."
This past December, Lynn Anderson's "Rose Garden" celebrated its 45th anniversary, as Digital Journal reported. At the time of its release, Anderson's Rose Garden album was the best-selling country album by a female artist for 25 years up until Shania Twain came along.
Other songs in Garth and Trisha's traditional country medley included Johnny Cash and June Carter's "Jackson," Crystal Gayle's "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," as well as Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn's "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" and George Jones and Tammy Wynette's "Golden Ring."
Following their well-received performance, Garth and Trisha both took bows right before he grabbed her face and sealed their performance with a kiss on her lips.
