Review: Laurie Berkner Band shines on their ‘Ultimate Collection’ (Includes first-hand account)

This Laurie Berkner album opens with the upbeat “Walk Along the River,” and it is followed by the equally fun and witty “Telephone” and “Where Is the Cake?”

The album continues with the sassy “Choc-o-lot In My Pock-o-lot” and the catchy acoustic tune “Bottle Caps.” Other noteworthy tracks include “The Cat Came Back,” the party anthem “Party Day,” “Shake Your Body Down” and the poignant closing tune “One Seed.” The control that Berkner maintains over her voice is impressive.

“The Airplane Song” features strong harmonies and Berkner’s vocals on “Mahalo” are pure as the driven snow. All of the songs on this musical effort will resonate well with her young audience and their families, especially “The Cookie Bakers of the Night.”

The Ultimate Laurie Berkner Collection is available on iTunes. It is recommended for any fans of children’s music or Laurie Berkner and her band. One will not be disappointed. The songstress takes her young fans and listeners on a musical adventure with this release. It garners an A rating.
