Review: Jordan Davis refreshing on debut country single ‘Singles You Up’ (Includes first-hand account)

Thus far, “Singles You Up,” has been the second most-added single of the week behind only country mega-star Kenny Chesney

The vivacious song was co-penned by Davis, and it is the highly-anticipated lead single from his upcoming major label debut on MCA Nashville. The idea for the song title was derived from congratulating his co-writer on his recent engagement. They were reminiscing about their younger days in college bars, where they would come across certain girls who were in sub-par relationships, and in return, they would think they could have been better boyfriends for them, if they were ever afford the chance. Basically, his song is the country response Rick Springfield’s classic rock tune “Jessie’s Girl.” Davis had joked with his co-writer that he was smart not to “single her up,” and it sparked a creative thought, and the rest is history.”

Davis is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana. After he graduated from college in 2012 with a degree in Resource Conservation, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he honed his songwriting craft.

The Verdict

Overall, Jordan Davis‘ new single “Singles You Up” is refreshing and distinct. His future in the country music scene should be promising. Good going. The song garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
