Review: Jacob Davis charms on new country music video ‘What I Wanna Be’ (Includes first-hand account)

Davis is signed to Black River Entertainment, and “What I Wanna Be” is his debut music video. It was filmed in his home state of Louisiana, and rightfully so, since it blends modern country with blues and funk. His rich, soulful vocals are reminiscent of Keith Urban meets Adam Levine of Maroon 5, and that ought to be taken as a major compliment.

Throughout his career in the contemporary music scene, Davis has shared the stage with such noteworthy artists as Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Ray, and Jon Pardi, among others.

“What I Wanna Be” is available on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, Jacob Davis exhibits a great deal of talent on his breakthrough music video for the bass-driven “What I Wanna Be.” His vocals are sultry and impressive, and country radio needs more artists like Jacob Davis. The video is a real treat, and it garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
