Review: Halfway to Hazard rocks on new country album ‘REDemptiOn’ (Includes first-hand account)

The CD opens on a spitfire note with the rocking “Thank God That You Do,” and it immediately breaks into “Heaven on Down the Highway,” as well as the haunting yet powerhouse tune “Meet Me in Vegas.”

“Love It Round Here” is more laid-back and nonchalant, while “Breaking Me” has a catchy melody to it. “American Outlaw” is a track that many traditional country fans can relate to, as well as fans of neo-traditional country. Halfway to Hazard are not afraid to say it like it is. “Story of Me” is an authentic, autobiographical acoustic tune.

After the flirty “Let’s Fight,” their album closes with “Girl Like That” and on a liberating note with “Rebel Spirit.”

The Verdict

Overall, REDemptiOn is a solid studio album from country duo Halfway to Hazard, which garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is definitely an asset to one’s country music collection.

REDemptiOn is available on Amazon and on iTunes.
