Review: Craig Campbell plays at NASH FM 94.7, takes cues from Luke Bryan (Includes first-hand account)

“Stage 17, how is everybody doing?” asked on-air radio personality Katie Neal. “Thank you for being here,” she added, and went on to introduce country singer-songwriter Craig Campbell, and thanked everybody at Sparkling Ice for their generosity.

“Good to see y’all,” Campbell said, as he took the stage, where he was joined by Jason Miller on acoustic guitar. “I am very excited to be performing at NASH FM,” he admitted.

Campbell kicked off his acoustic set with his mid-tempo title track tune “See You Try,” and he gave his NASH FM audience a Spanish language lesson with the fun drinking song “Mas Tequila.” “Thank you so much. I appreciate it so much,” Campbell said, following the warm reception.

“The wait is over for new music,” Campbell said, and he noted that he signed with Broken Bow Records in 2015. “I want people to know that I am super sexy,” he said, and continued with “Upstairs,” which is the song that Campbell claimed as his favorite on the new EP.

He revealed that “Outskirts of Heaven” is “a very personal song” to him, and rightfully so. “Ever since I started playing it live, it has been getting crazy, weird reactions from fans,” he said. His acoustic version of “Outskirts of Heaven” was heartfelt and soothing, as Campbell displayed his rich, baritone vocals.

“We make music for ourselves and for our fans as well,” Campbell said.

The country musician noted that he was a part of Luke Bryan’s band, where he played keyboard, before Bryan inked his major record deal. He shared that he learned a lot from Bryan, and acknowledged that “it’s all about the fans having a good time.”

Campbell closed his acoustic set at NASH FM with his infectious, radio anthem “Keep Them Kisses Comin’,” and on a witty note with “Fish.”

Country listeners and fans that enjoyed his set at NASH FM 94.7 can see Campbell perform at Opry City State in Times Square in New York on June 27, 2018.

His new EP See You Try is available on iTunes; moreover, it earned a favorable review from Digital Journal.
