Their music video was directed by FifGen Films. The song “Fields and Pier” has a crisp and haunting vibe to it, coupled with elements of indie, adult contemporary, folk and Americana music. It is rich in melodies and aesthetics, while their music video pays tribute to the pastoral world, and it ought to be enjoyed for its beauty, authenticity and simplicity. It was inspired by Sequoia National Park, and rightfully so.
“Fields and Pier” is featured on his new five-track EP, Sage and Stone, which came out on June 9, which he released independently.
Avriel and the Sequoias is the debut musical project from Avi Kaplan (best known as the vocal bass from the Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix). While it may be a department from his a cappella music with Pentatonix, this new venture shows Kaplan going back to his roots, and it shows. His audience will get to experience a different, but equally impressive side of his artistry.
The Verdict
Overall, “Fields and Pier” is a charming new song from his latest EP. Avi Kaplan’s future in the music industry should be very promising with Avriel and the Sequoias. This soothing song garners an A rating.
