Review: Arcade Fire excellent on ‘The Reflektor Tapes’ Blu-ray and DVD (Includes first-hand account)

This collection kicks off with a noteworthy documentary that deals with the making of their critically-acclaimed studio album, Reflektor, which came out in 2013. The album would go on to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 all-genre charts. Most impressive about the documentary is that it highlights Arcade Fire’s time in Haiti, as well as their long-standing relationship with the country.

It is followed by Arcade Fire’s live concert at Earl’s Court that took place in London, and it gives the fans a front-row seat to that remarkable show. The high-octane concert begins with the title track of that album, “Reflektor” and it is followed by “Flashbulb Eyes” and Neighborhood #3 (Power Out).” They immediately break into “Rebellion (Lies)” and “Joan of Arc,” as well as “Rococo” and “The Suburbs.” Their Earl’s Court concert closes with “Her Comes The Night Time” and “Wake Up.” If that wasn’t enough, the Blu-ray and DVD collection includes additional bonus features such as alternate versions of several stand-out songs.

The Verdict

Overall, Arcade Fire is back stronger than ever with The Reflektor Tapes DVD and Blu-ray. It is one true musical experience, comprised of over four hours of entertainment, and a must for any fans or listeners of Arcade Fire. It garners an A rating.
