Ray Dalton talks new single ‘If You Fall,’ Lady Gaga, Elle King (Includes interview)

Throughout his music career, Dalton has collaborated with multiple artists and he is stoked to release his own solo material. “I’m very excited, but I’ve also put a lot of pressure on myself over the years following my collaborations, which is the reason why it’s taken so long for me to release my solo music. I feel like now is my time, and I’m ready to get these new songs out to my fans,” he said.

On his inspiration to co-write “If You Fall,” he said, “I was really feeling sad about love at the time and Scott Effman, who is like a brother to me, always asks me what’s going on with my life. I started sharing my story with him, and I laid down some melodies that allowed me to express what I was feeling, and that is what became ‘If You Fall’.”

Regarding his future plans, he said, “Musically, I want to keep writing from my heart, releasing great songs I truly believe in, and work with amazing collaborators. We have several new songs lined up, so this is just the very beginning. Personally, I dream of having my own tequila, improving my tennis game and to be the best, most loving person I can be for the rest of my life. I would love to be singing my Grammy-award winning songs in Vegas at 50.”

On his daily motivations, he said, “Being very competitive and motivated has always been in my blood. Just ask my younger sister Veronica, but I find myself influenced right now by love, anger, joy and my inner circle.”

Regarding the digital transformation of the contemporary music scene, Dalton said, “To be 100 percent honest, it’s always been hard for me to keep up with and learn new technology! It’s stressful for me, but when used the right way, it gives every single artist the opportunity to be seen and heard like never before.”

When asked how he uses technology in his daily routine and music, he revealed, “I love my wireless speakers. I use them in the shower, pool, on the boat, and in the tennis court; it’s changed my life in the best way possible. You can have a disco party anywhere.”

Dalton listed Lady Gaga and Elle King as his dream duet choices in music. “The way that Lady Gaga gives love the world is contagious. ‘Marry The Night’ always picks my spirit up from life’s troubles. It would also be great to work with Elle King. There’s a toughness and beauty to her voice and songwriting that I love,” he said.

For his fans, he concluded about “If You Fall,” “It’s been a long time coming, but it’s here. I hope they can escape life’s troubles with me and share an incredible moment with the people around them.”
