article imageInterview: Ricky Young talks new country single 'Girl Like That' Special

Country singer Ricky Young chatted with Digital Journal about his new love song "Girl Like That," which is based on his personal experiences.
Regarding the idea for his song "Girl Like That," Young said, "The song came about four years ago at the ACM awards, when I was sitting at a blackjack table with a couple of friends, and this girl walks up, and she was meeting some mutual friends. Those guys went to get some No. 1 tattoos on their arms and we decided to play blackjack. At that moment, I lost all my money, but hit the jackpot. We basically have been together ever since. We started hanging out and then made it official, and we will make it officially official in September with our wedding."
Young released the single "Girl Like That" on February 13, one day before Valentine's Day. "It worked out like that. We didn't plan it like that. Hopefully, some people will listen to it on Valentine's Day and they can pull some emotions from it," he said. "The song is real and it's raw. Every relationship is different and touring is hard, but it's pretty cool just the way that it happened."
His vocals on "Girl Like That" earned him comparisons to such contemporary country crooners as Blake Shelton ("God Gave Me You") and Chris Young ("I'm Comin' Over"). "Those are songs that I actually really like," he said with a sweet laugh. "It's great to be in that company."
