Interview: Party Thieves talks electronic music, future plans (Includes interview)

On his transition from ex-West Point cadet to DJ, he said, “It was definitely a stress reliever. While the music industry is intense, I would say my four years at West Point was at a much higher level of intense. I don’t have to wake up forcefully at 5:30 a.m. to run two miles before Physics class.”

He continued, “Music is literally my life. Music is all around me, from dogs barking at the park to the sounds I hear walking down the streets of New York. I literally have recorded melodies to my phone that pop in my head, they sound pretty stupid because it’s just my mouth beat-boxing. Sometimes I’ll be with my girlfriend and will start humming an idea at dinner and she just gets confused because she probably thinks I’m a little kid half the time.”

Regarding his plans for the future, he said, “Spending more time around the world, discovering new cultures. Continue to create art in whatever form that may be whether it may be music or anything else that inspires me.”

He is drawn to electronic dance music due to its “sense of family” as well as the “unity that runs parallel with the culture.”

When asked what motivates him each day, he said, “Knowing that each day I get to create. Whether something brand new or an edit or even a cool graphic, I get to create.”

He listed RL Grime as his dream collaboration choice. “He has been a huge inspiration to my music,” he said.

For his fans, he concluded, “Thanks for following me on this wild journey. I have been working on new music that I can’t wait to share with you. #WeAreTheftArmy”
