Interview: Heffron Drive talks ‘Don’t Let Me Go,’ plans for 2016 (Includes interview)

Regarding their new single “Don’t Let Me Go,” Schmidt said, “We were working with our buddy and we were make some new music, and this track started developing. We did a ton of takes, and this melody came about, and it spun words a lot easier than not having a melody, and it really came together in a cool way. We were excited about releasing something that was different than our other material.”

Their music video for the song, has a futuristic vibe to it, and it was directed by actor Kevin Schmidt, who is Kendall’s older brother. “Kevin directed the video, and it’s like the past, present and future as well,” Belt said.

On performing in Amityville on Long Island, Belt said, “I think this is our first time here. We wanted to go the Amityville Horror house, but I guess next time. We are excited to be here.”

Tomorrow, they will be playing at Webster Hall in New York City, which marks their third time at that iconic venue. “Webster Hall is going to be fun,” they admitted.

The duo acknowledged that their tour in Europe has been great, and they just returned two days ago. “We just came back right before the earthquake in Italy. Our shows were good, and we are sad to hear about the earthquake in Italy,” Belt said.

Heffron Drive’s plans for the future are to finish up the album, get more shows going and to continue touring. “We love the fans, and we hope to see them at more shows,” Belt said. “The fans single-handedly keep us having a job, so we’re very stoked about it,” Schmidt added.

Schmidt continued, “My main motivation is to be a creative person for a living, and it’s obviously better to be doing really well at it. That’s nice, so I’m always going for that. Just not having a normal job is my main motivation.”
