On the song selection for the album, she said, “I went through a long list of songs, and I chose songs that I could understand their stories. I chose what I love, and stories that would enrich the quilt that I was making. I’m a big fan of Patsy Cline songs, so of course I was going to pick ‘I Fall To Pieces.'”
She praised one of her duet partners, country star Vince Gill, whom she collaborates with on “You’re the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly,” for being a “great guitar player,” “great singer” and “the whole package.”
On December 3, Lauper will be performing at the iconic Beacon Theatre in New York City, as part of “Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays.” “I am excited about it. I am always excited for ‘Home for the Holidays.’ We are putting the show together. We put in a lot of requests, and a lot of people say ‘yes’ and then they say ‘no,’ and you just try and get everyone together so that we can make a home for the holidays for kids that are on the streets,” she said.
When asked if she would sing any of her new country songs at her Beacon Theatre show, she said with a sweet laugh, “Oh yes, I might.”
