His soul-bearing debut single “Reckon” is from his self-titled EP, which came out on May 20, and it is available on iTunes. “That was the only song on the whole EP that I did not write. That song was pitched to me by the head of the label, Benny. It took me back to early Eric Church music and I was hooked, and then I heard the vocals. I was listening very intently and I heard the song and I love break-up songs, and I was just pumped,” he said. “It was really cool how that song came together.”
Craig is also a celebrated songwriter having penned hits such as Parmalee’s “Close Your Eyes,” and he has scored cuts by Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch and country duo Love and Theft (“Whiskey on My Breath”), among others.
Craig honed his unique vocal presence and craft performing in clubs and festivals around his home state of Washington before moving to Nashville.
In the future, he hopes to go out on the road and tour more with his full band. “I want to play all these markets again, and get in front of all these stations’ listeners. I want to be playing a lot,” he said. “I want to be able to count the days that I am home, easier than I can count the days that I am gone. I hope that’s in the near future.”
A native of Tenino, Washington, just south of Seattle, he credits Tim McGraw and Travis Tritt as his biggest musical inspirations. “The class of 1989 definitely had my biggest influences, with Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks. There were so many brilliant artists back then,” he said, prior to also praising modern country artists Eric Church and Keith Urban.
He listed Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Clare Dunn, and Kelsea Ballerini as his dream female duet choices.
