Pure & Simple, which Parton co-produced and wrote all the songs, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts. Aside from the United States, her album reached No. 1 in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. It went on to sell 20,000 units in its first week, and this is quite the milestone, since it marks the first time Parton topped the Billboard Top Country Albums charts in 25 years.
In addition, it sits at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 all-genre charts.
Parton’s album garnered a rave review from Digital Journal.
She expressed her contentment via a press statement. “It feels great to be No. 1 as it’s been a long time and it feels so good to still be in the game after all this time.”
It is safe to say that after all these decades, the country throne is still hers.
