article imageDailey & Vincent: Country/Bluegrass stars to release new album Special

By Adrian Peel     Apr 3, 2017 in Music
The band has just put out a new record and last year became members of the Grand Ole Opry. Darrin Vincent talks to Digital Journal about all this and more.
Formed in 2007, the multi-Grammy-nominated Dailey & Vincent comprises Jamie Dailey on guitar, bass and vocals, Darrin Vincent on mandolin, guitar, bass and vocals, Jeff Parker on mandolin, guitar and vocals, fiddler Patrick McAvinue, Jessie Baker on banjo and guitar, Aaron "Tex" McCune on guitar, bass and vocals and Shaun Richardson on guitar, mandolin and vocals.
The group's latest album, Patriots & Poets, was released on March 31 and is their first to feature all original music. The launch follows their induction in December into the Grand Ole Opry, when fellow members Jeannie Seely and Old Crow Medicine Show welcomed them into the fold. The lead-off single from the album is "Until We're Gone" (featuring TaRanda Greene).
Hi Darrin, please tell me about Patriots & Poets
"Patriots & Poets is 15 songs written by Dailey & Vincent and friends and centered around God, family and country. We’re very proud of our homeland and our songs reflect that. Having written most all the songs, it's musical poetry."
How does it differ from your previous work?
"This album has a bit more variety of musical flavouring, such as traditional bluegrass, country, folk, and acapella."
Which of the 15 tracks particularly stand out for you?
"'California' [featuring Steve Martin] is a fun story song of love and dreams which will make you smile."

Congratulations on being inducted into the Opry! How did it feel?
"Thank you! It was breathtaking. We cried happy tears, were humbled and felt so honoured to be a part of the Opry family."
What are your plans for the rest of 2017 and beyond?
"We're looking forward to writing new TV shows to follow our first two seasons on RFD-TV of The Dailey & Vincent Show and have started writing material for the country side of a new Dailey & Vincent album. Who knows what else we can think up over the next six months?"
