Review: Georgia lawyer creates bombastic Super Bowl ad (Includes first-hand account)

As reported by Deadspin, a lawyer named Jamie Casino, based in Savannah, Ga., bought out all two minutes of local Super Bowl advertising.

You’ve seen personal injury attorney commercials before, but you’ve probably never seen one like this. Filmed like a movie trailer, Casino explains that he used to make a living as “a notorious criminal defence lawyer, employed by some of the most cold-hearted villains.” But when his brother was murdered, Casino decided to “speak for innocent victims who can’t speak for themselves.”

If the dramatic language wasn’t enough, there’s also a long and drawn-out scene as Casino smashes a grave with a flaming sledgehammer. What exactly this represents is beyond comprehension, especially since the shot follows his son asking “What do you do when you go to work?” The answer seems to be “desecrating graves.”

No doubt you’ll remember such a striking image, though it remains to be seen if the sledgehammer will ever be used in real life. According to the Huffington Post, Casino has in previous ads pledged to “pound money out of big insurance companies” for his clients.

If you’re looking for more traditional Super Bowl ad fare, CBC has rounded up a list of what it calls the 10 best, with appearances from the Muppets, Ellen DeGeneres, a couple of cute dogs, and more.
