Dr. Dennis Sivers, Adjunct Professor at the University of Michigan and as Director of the Portland Physics Institute, was recently inducted into the prestigious International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) Hall of Fame for his lifetime dedication to his career.

Dr. Dennis Sivers, Adjunct Professor at the University of Michigan and as Director of the Portland Physics Institute, was recently inducted into the prestigious International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) Hall of Fame for his lifetime dedication to his career.
Being selected by the International Association of Top Professionals is an esteemed honor, as only 20 IAOTP members are inducted into the exclusive Hall of Fame. These special honorees are distinguished by their longevity in their fields, the contributions they have made to society, and the impact they have had on their industries.
Dr. Sivers is being recognized for this honor for dedicating over 40 years of his life’s work as a Physicist. He is an expert within his field and had held many titles in his career. His impressive repertoire of prior roles includes Physicist for Argonne National Laboratory where he published seminal calculations in both perturbative and non-perturbative quantum chromodynamics. Has served as Physicist & Director of the Portland Physics Institute, President & Chief Executive Officer of Sivers Companies, a real estate development firm. He is a founder of the Maya Cinemas North America, a chain of movie theaters based in California, and is presently serving as Adjunct Professor in the Physics department at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Sivers is widely known for providing an explanation for single-spin asymmetries in proton scattering experiments. These measurements, which are dependent on the orientation of the proton’s spin, which has come to be known as the Sivers Effect.
Dr. Sivers received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Theoretical Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated, “Inducting Dr. Sivers into our Hall of Fame was an effortless decision for our panel to make. Aside from his long list of accomplishments and accolades, he holds an astounding amount of pride for those he has taught and the colleagues with whom he has collaborated with. Dr. Sivers has exceptional talent and knowledge in math, science, and engineering. His lifelong passion for physics is undeniable and we are thrilled to be honoring him this way.”
Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Sivers has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for many years as a leader in Physics and Education. For 2020, he was featured on the famous Reuters Building in Times Square, New York City, and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, he also graced the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. Dr. Sivers was honored at IAOTP’s 2019 Annual Award Gala at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, for his selection as Top Physicist of the Year. He was also the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Sivers remains active in his community and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a former member of the National Association Industrial & Office Properties.
Looking back, Dr. Sivers attributes his success to his education, the mentors he had along the way, and his passion for research. When not working, Dr. Sivers enjoys sailing, physical fitness, horses, reading, and practicing minimalism. In the future, he hopes to inspire others to take interest in Science and Nature.
