article imageReview: Nathan Tasker performs at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury Special

By Markos Papadatos     Mar 26, 2015 in Music
Westbury - On March 26, Australian Christian music singer-songwriter Nathan Tasker performed at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Long Island.
He opened for Grammy-winning Christian music star Michael W. Smith. Tasker was dressed in a blue jean shirt and black jeans.
"How's everybody doing tonight?" Tasker asked, prior to performing the title track of his album, "Man On a Wire," as blue lights graced the stage. The audience was clapping along and Tasker's vocals were mellow yet captivating, and he delivered a solid solo performance.
Tasker noted that this was his first time performing at Westbury, and subsequently shared that he is from Sydney, Australia.
"Anybody want to go to Australia?" he asked, prior to joking that the only time that he is not a proud Australian is when he goes to Outback Steakhouse. It was followed by a tender rendition of "Whole World," as purple lights dimmed on the stage.
He shared the story of sponsoring a five-year-old child named Edgar from Guatemala and how that was one of the most moving experiences of his life. They were writing letters to each other for eight years and Tasker was afforded the chance to finally meet the 13-year-old boy. He encouraged members in the audience to sponsor a child for less than forty dollars a month, especially since with that money a child can receive nutritious meals, medical care and an education.
The Verdict
Not only was Nathan Tasker able to move the Long Island audience with his warm vocals, he was simultaneously able to move people with his sponsoring story, and many fans decided to sponsor children tonight from other countries in the world. He deserves two thumbs up for a job well done.
