Review: Tony winner Idina Menzel nails national anthem at Super Bowl

She performed “The Star Spangled Banner” a cappella in Glendale, Arizona, while showcasing her ability to hold lengthy notes. It was a stunning rendition. Menzel was able to prove her critics wrong, who pondered her on New Year’s Day for her live performance of “Let It Go” from the motion picture Frozen, which she sung in the freezing cold in Times Square.

Grammy winner John Legend triumphed on his piano-driven version of “America The Beautiful,” which was also before the game. Pop superstar Katy Perry will be playing at this year’s half-time show.

Theater fans can still catch Idina Menzel on the Broadway musical If/Then, which is running until March 22.

As Digital Journal reported, Menzel will be embarking on her world tour on July 7, and one of those tour stops will be at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York.
