Review: Ella Henderson amazes on ‘Chapter One’ album (Includes first-hand account)

Henderson co-wrote the majority of the songs on the album. It opens with her stellar breakthrough radio single “Ghost,” which has introduced her music to the world, and rightfully so. The follow-up “Empire” is equally outstanding, where he displays her incredible vocal pipes and range as an artist.

“Glow” is a soothing and mellow listen with an ambient vibe to it, while “Yours” is a glorious piano-driven ballad. “Mirror Man” is mid-tempo and fun and “Hard Work” is an empowering, yet beautifully sung ballad.

“Pieces” is upbeat and soaring with neat hooks and she nails the high notes yet again on the ballad “All Again.” She showcases her vulnerability on “Give Your Heart Away,” while “Rockets” is more laid-back and it closes with the piano-driven “Missed,” which is an appropriate and heartfelt tune to use as her closing track.

The Verdict

Overall, Ella Henderson’s new album Chapter One is excellent from start to finish. She deserves to have the same success as Adele did with her 21 CD. Expect many great things from Henderson, including multiple Grammy nominations at next year’s ceremony. Her talent is too big to ignore. Chapter One earns 5 out of 5 stars.
