Review: Ann Wilson from Heart fantastic on ‘The Ann Wilson Thing’ solo EP (Includes first-hand account)

It was released digitally on September 18 via Rounder Records, and it will be available in stores on October 9. Wilson’s EP opens with “For What It’s Worth,” which has neat percussion and drums, and it is followed by the crisp ballad “Fool No More,” which displays Wilson’s powerful voice.

Equally captivating is the haunting ballad “Ain’t No Way,” which has a bluesy edge to it, and it closes with “Danger Zone.”

As the lead singer of the acclaimed rock band Heart, Wilson has penned some of their greatest rock hits including “Crazy on You,” “Barracuda,” “Magic Man,” “Dog & Butterfly” and “Even It Up.”

The Verdict

This new EP proves that Ann Wilson is not only one of greatest female vocalists in rock music, but in all genres of music. Throughout her career she has been dubbed as the female version of “Robert Plant,” and by listening to this EP, one can clearly see why. The Ann Wilson Thing showcases her versatility as a singer and songwriter. It garners an A rating.
