Pop star Wiltay talks ‘Less Is More,’ Randy Jackson, motivations (Includes interview)

He nominated for The Los Angeles Music Awards in four categories. “It felt like when I took my first roller coaster ride as a kid. Exciting, not knowing the outcome but yet I enjoyed the ride and the rush,” he said.

In the future, Wiltay will be touring to different cities including London, New York, Ukraine and Ibiza, where the new single “What are we Waiting For” is released. Really excited to meet people from different parts of the world!

He is mentored by former American Idol judge Randy Jackson, which he describes as an “incredibly thrilling” experience. “Randy is an authentic person. He is very genuine, open and enthusiastic. These are very important traits that helps nurture creativity immensely. His laughter is absolutely contagious. It is very exciting to come out with creative ideas with Randy because we are always laughing and joking all the time. When I have a creative idea, he is always very open to listen to the ideas. He would always answer with a ‘Haha yes, I think it would be better if..’ Randy always adds his creative values to make things better than the way it is and he is always very focused and looks out on how to make things unique. I see him as the laughing Buddha. I think abdominal muscles were created to withstand Randy’s hilarious jokes.”

Regarding his “Less Is More” music video, he said, “The ‘Less Is More’ music video is about the power of simplicity in love. I met an architect and artist Julio Jimenez Corral in Madrid during his photo exhibition. I asked him about what his pictures represented and he mentioned ‘minimalism in a modernistic context.’ Immediately, that sparked a thought in my head. I was writing a song ‘Less Is More’ which was about simplicity and how cool would it be to have an architect’s concept for a music video where architecture, photography and technology meets music. We finally got the chance to get together and Julio impressed me because when we met to discuss the concept, he already had an entire storyboard drawn. That was the birth of the ‘Less is More’ music video.”

Regarding the song selection process for his debut album, he said, “I approached it the same way you approach someone you love. You take the time to listen to them, making sure you don’t miss out any beautiful moments in every little detail.”

Each day, he is motivated by coffee. ‘The thing I go crazy without, or crazy with,” he explained. “When we were filming the music video for ‘What are we waiting for,’ one of the wonderful models kept saying ‘I am not good enough, I was horrible’ every time after she was filmed. After the shoot, I said ‘you are more beautiful than you think, you were brilliant, you were incredible, you left your country to achieve your dreams, and look where you are now! how wonderful is that?’ I looked at everyone else on the set and asked everyone, ‘Don’t you agree?’ and everyone cheered and clapped for her. That moment I saw how inspired and how she appreciated herself more. These moments of inspiration and sharing of love motivates me.”

In his spare time, he enjoys finding the next source of inspiration, as well as little special moments to put smiles on people’s faces.

For his fans, he concluded, “To you brave souls that reached out to me to share your the moments of your lives, your stories have motivated me and many others because you have shared with me. You gave me more than I could give You all motivate me more than you could have imagined. Own it, you have been brave in life. Pay it forward. Go inspire. Go make a change. Lets go.”
