Klingande talks New York show, future plans in electronic music (Includes interview)

Klingande performed at PlayStation Theater this past Thursday in New York City. “This was actually the first edition of the live show in the U.S. I already did it once before in Europe with guitar, violin, drums, harmonica and sax. For this one, we added the trumpet and trombone, built a brand new stage plot and created new visuals. This was something really brand new and I hope people loved it. It’s very special to meld a DJ set with all these instruments and preparing new edits of tracks,” he said.

He added, “I just wanted to bring instruments we can find in my music live on to the stage, so the saxophone of course, harmonica in Riva, violin in my ‘The Sun’ remix. We also wrote new arrangements for a lot of other tracks to bring these instruments on to the stage and build a real show.”

Regarding his plans for the future, he said, “My main goals for next year are to release my first album. I’m currently in the studio between Paris and Los Angeles to work on this, and put this live band on the road in U.S. and Europe. This is really what we are working on right now and it’s very exciting.”

He is drawn to electronic dance music since it affords him the possibility to mix genres, thus bringing all the influences and share very different emotions from sadness to happiness and power. “There’s an infinite number of possibilities in electronic music, that’s really what I like in this,” he said.

His greatest musical influences include Air, Daft Punk, Swedish House Mafia and Avicii, as well as Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan. “I have a lot of influences as I like to listen a lot of different music. I really try to have the largest possible vision, and I love to discover new stuff,” he said.

On the future of electronic dance music, within the next five years, he said, “I think electronic music is merging with pop music as this is now the main genre in radios and in the charts. All pop artists are using electronic music in their productions, and we hear electronic music everywhere. The possibility of mixing electronic music and all other genres make it the most important thing, and for me in the close future this will be pop music. That’s it.”

“I just want to thank them all, with all my heart, because I’m where I am today only thanks to them and their support,” he said, for his fans. “I’m living a dream, playing in big festivals, feeling the love of thousands of people. So just thank you.”
