Interview: Redfoo talks Canadian tour, ‘Party Rock Mansion’ album (Includes interview)

On July 1, Redfoo’s Canadian tour kicked off, which wraps up on August 27 in Vancouver. He is promoting his new studio album Party Rock Mansion, which was officially released on March 18, 2016. “The tour has been great, especially our last show,” he said.

Regarding the song selection process for Party Rock Mansion, he said, “It was a two-year album in the making. I made a lot of the songs on the road. Some of them in Australia and I wanted to have a collection of different moods and feelings and that is how I selected them. Those are basically all the songs that I made, and I excluded about three songs.”

Redfoo’s plans for the future are to continue to tour, in an effort to make “this world a party planet and to spread the good, party vibes.”

“I am doing a lot of coding with apps, and I am self-educating myself in coding and programming and I am mixing that with the music,” he said. “I want to deliver a more unique experience for my fans.”

He listed “Lights Out” as his personal favorite song on the album, and he highlighted the ballad “Maybe” as another stand-out track. His songwriting is inspired by a “strong feeling” that he has about a specific moment or a relationship.

Aside from being a performer, Redfoo is also a producer, songwriter, DJ, actor, music show judge, tennis player, digital app innovator and fashion designer. “I try to produce and learn things with my free time. I have a lot of ambitions and I want to do a lot of things for a lot of different reasons. I consider my teammates my family, and I like to get back to the fans, and somehow try to educate them. I tell them about coding and they always ask me advice. I want to share what I am doing so people could be inspired,” he said. “My goal in life is to make people happy through music, knowledge, teaching and entertaining, and I am constantly making sure that they feel good.”

He is best known to the music world as the creative half of the electronic pop-rock duo LMFAO. He released several No. 1 hits in over 30 countries. His sound and superstar status have allowed him to collaborate with such global music stars as Kanye West, Pitbull, Carly Rae Jepson, David Guetta and Steve Akoi. In addition, he performed with Madonna in the 2012 Super Bowl half-time show. He has earned six Billboard Music Awards, Grammy nominations and accolades from the American Music Awards (AMAs), MTV EMA’s, MTV VMA’s, as well as Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

Redfoo listed Ellie Goulding as his dream female duet choice. “I really like her. That would seem fun,” he said.

“I love my fans, and I am happy I am back in Canada,” he concluded, prior to defining success as “accomplishing your dreams and being happy.”
