EDX won the awards for “Best Indie Dance/Nu Disco” artist, as well as for “Best Remix of the Year” thanks to the success of his remix of Sam Feldt’s “Show Me Love” at Mexico’s EMPO Awards. “That’s a blessing actually. To be able to go to a country like Mexico and get two awards is incredible. We did really well last year,” he said.
His single “Missing,” which he released earlier this year, has gone viral, accumulating over eight million plays online. “It’s a very popular song. When I approached the song, they wanted to give a new fresh, EDX vibe to it. I had many memories with this song and many people knew this song from before,” he said. “It went very well, and it got a lot of radio plays all over the world.”
This summer, EDX has a 10-date “No Xcuses” residency (which consists of a radio show and event brand) at Privilege Ibiza, in addition to several “No Xcuses” nights in Los Angeles, Boston, and at Canada’s Escapade Music Festival. “That is my weekly radio show. I started it in 2012, and we added a lot of countries all over the world. In the meantime, it turned into a radio show and this year, we are adding a residency to some of the biggest countries in the world. It keeps me connected with my fans once a week. I am forced to spend a lot of time searching for new music and have interactions on my podcast. It should be cool. I love it,” he said.
EDX just released his next single, an Ibiza Sunrise remix of Dubfire’s “Roadkill,” that he originally remixed in 2008, and he is now revamping it. The original remix in 2008 was a huge hit and it was supported by such acclaimed electronic music artists and producers as Pete Tong, Swedish House Mafia and Armin van Buuren. “I released my first record in 1997, and ten years later, I did an updated EDX version of ‘Roadkill,’ with more of a trance influence. This version is doing awesome. We are No. 2 in Beatport today,” he said.
