Granger Smith talks new single ‘Backroad Song,’ BBR Music Group (Includes interview)

On his latest radio single, “Backroad Song,” Smith said, “I wanted a really good that you could roll the windows down. It is not a love song, or a long lost love song, or a redemption song. It is literally a backroad song, and I wanted to be very specific about that,” he said.

Most recently, Smith signed a new record deal with the Broken Bow Records (BBR) Music Group. “That felt great, and it hasn’t sunk in quite yet,” he said.

Regarding his plans for the future, he said, “To grow this as big as we possibly can, and take it to as many people as possible. We have been growing our team member by member, and that’s what we continue to do.”

Each day, Smith is motivated by his family, friends and music. “It has helped me through the hard and the struggling times. I have always loved music,” he said.

Smith is drawn to country music since it reminds him of home, especially his grandmother, and listening to it while he was a kid. “There is an honesty and a truth to it,” he said. “It reminds me of the good times.”

Aside from spending time with his family, Smith enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting and bow-hunting. “We try to stay healthy and we work out,” he said.

He noted that he is a fan of country songstress Ashley Monroe and her new album, The Blade, and listed her as his dream female duet choice. “That album is really, really good. It is awesome,” he said.
