New York - Rock music fans are in for a treat. Chris Cornell will be performing two shows at The Beacon Theatre in New York this October.
Cornell previously performed at The Beacon Theatre in 2013. This year's show will take place on October 18 and 19, as part of his acoustic solo tour, to promote his upcoming studio album. He is expected to release his latest solo project on September 18, entitled Higher Truth, which was produced by Brendan O'Brien, who has worked with such rock artists as Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Neil Young.
Most impressive about this tour is the fact that one dollar from from every ticket purchase will go towards the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, a charitable organization that helps to protect the most vulnerable children that face such problems as homelessness, poverty, abuse and neglect.
He is known as the lead singer and rhythm guitar player of the acclaimed rock group Soundgarden. He is a powerful vocalist, with the ability to exceed three or four octaves, as well as a songwriter and lyricist.
Cornell has been hailed by music critics as one of the the best vocalists in the music business and he holds many awards to his credit. His signature Soundgarden tunes "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman" earned him the "Best Hard Rock Performance" and "Best Metal Performance" Grammy awards in 1995 respectively.
