The new single was co-penned by Wicks, as well as country songwriters Rodney Clawson and Chris Tomkins and it is on the radio airwaves. “It has been a long time coming. I wrote that song four years ago, and I was waiting for it to land on a record somewhere, and thankfully, it landed on mine, and now we are rocking with it and we are watching it do what it does,” he said.
“Saturday Afternoon” is a track from his forthcoming full-length album, which will be out via his record label, Blaster Records. This new CD will feature all of his songs from his Rough EP. “It will have six new songs, including our previous single ‘Us Again,’ which is one of my favorite songs that I have ever written and recorded,” he said. “I actually got done singing this week on the last tune, so I will turn it in to the label, and I will see what they say as far as when they want to release it.”
Aside from music, Wicks is an avid outdoors-man who enjoys hunting. “Hunting season is over for right now. I was just on the Outdoor Channel, and I started to dig my toes into other waters,” he said.
His passion for hunting and the outdoors is infectious and has landed him on multiple Outdoor Channel hunting shows and vignettes. He wrote and performed the theme song for the Pursuit Channel’s “Huntin’ On Empty,” where he was a featured hunter and he served as part of their pro hunting staff.
Wicks’ debut single “Stealing Cinderella” reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot Country charts and it was the biggest debut single for any new country artist in 2007.
A Delaware native, Wicks’ goals are to finish his new album and to continue to grow with “America’s Morning Show,” which is heard on Nash FM 94.7. “I want to expand there, and I am looking forward to hunting season. I will be out on the road on weekends. I am always writing new songs and I am just enjoying every minute of it. I definitely feel blessed,” he said.
