Video: ‘Street Fighter V’ Charlie Nash trailer

Remember when Capcom hinted that Charlie Nash was going to make an official return in the upcoming Street Fighter V?

Playstation’s latest trailer for Street Fighter V, which is a Playstation 4 and PC exclusive, definitely confirms the return of Charlie Nash. The trailer shows that Charlie is clearly not the same person as he was in the Street Fighter Alpha series before being “killed” by M. Bison and his criminal Shadaloo organization.

Charlie is the one that taught Guile his special moves, which is why he used the Flash Kick and Sonic Boom special attacks in Street Fighter Alpha.

Charlie still has the Sonic Boom and the Flash Kick special attacks, but there are many things quite different about him now. You will notice the “patchwork” on Charlie’s body, which suggests that his skin graft replacements came from Urien’s body.

If that is the case, then Street Fighter V may take place after Street Fighter III.

He is given new special moves such as a spinning hook kick that has the flash effect and a new teleport special move, with the latter being able to use in a combo after a Sonic Boom. His new super move is wicked and feels like a black-ops version of Akuma’s Shun Goku Satsu aka “Raging Demon.”

The trailer also announces the online beta program for the game, which automatically signs up people the moment they pre-order a copy. Street Fighter V’s beta will be open to North America and there is no news for a beta in Europe yet.

It is obvious that Charlie is back with a vengeance and it is likely directed towards M. Bison, who is hinted to return for Street Fighter V.

Charlie’s return was inevitable because of how popular he was since Street Fighter Alpha. He is effectively the Ken to Guile’s Ryu. Guile entered the Street Fighter universe to avenge Charlie, which the obsession caused a rift between him and his family.

Abel’s introduction in Street Fighter IV gave the hint that Charlie would return.
