Video: ‘Pixels’ first trailer

Patrick Jean made a short film titled Pixels, which you can check out on YouTube.

It depicted New York City getting decimated by pixelated video game blocks. Think about your typical old school 8-bit games like Tetris, Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Metroid, Mega Man, Super Mario Brothers, and other classic titles.

Rhetorically asking, could you have predicted that Pixels would be adapted into a full-length feature film?

The full-length film adaptation of Pixels has been posted and it will hit theaters on July 24th. Digital Trends reported that the trailer for Pixels is the most watched Sony Entertainment trailer of all time right now.

If you have watched Futurama, then you shouldn’t be surprised at the movie. It was bound to happen some way or another.

Pixels’ story beings in 1982 when NASA sends a time capsule into outer space. It contains footage of video game pop culture, which the aliens view as hostile. In layman speak, the aliens misinterpreted footage from Pac-Man and Galaga as a threat to their existence.

What do the aliens do?

These aliens bring these iconic video games to live as their heralds for Earth’s invasion and the world’s military forces are no match. Earth’s hope lies in a small team of video game specialists led by United States President William Cooper, who is played by Kevin James (The King of Queens, Hitch, Here Comes the Boom, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, 50 First Dates, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and Grown Ups).

Cooper enlists the help of childhood best friend and protagonist, Sam Brenner, who is played by Adam Sandler (Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Bulletproof, The Wedding Singer, Dirty Work, Big Daddy, The Waterboy, Little Nicky, Eight Crazy Nights, Anger Management, 50 First Dates, Click, Reign Over Me, and The Longest Yard).

He also enlists the help of Sam’s former nemesis, who is played by Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, Knights of Badassdom, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Elf, The Station Agent, Low Down, and The Angriest Man in Brooklyn).

They also employ the assistance of Professor Toru Iwatani, Pac-Man’s creator, who is portrayed by Denis Akiyama. The scene with Iwatani and Pac-Man is perhaps the most popular scene in the Pixels trailer.
