Steven Fales to star in ‘Cult Model’ comedy show

His one-man comedy show will take place in mid-October at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on 42nd Street in Manhattan. Fales is best-known as the creator and lead actor of the hit Off-Broadway production Confessions of a Mormon Boy, for which he won multiple awards.

Cult Model will consist of witty parables and parodies. This show began as a stand-up show that was written during a 10-week run at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami in 2003. Fales had performed it as a presentation at the 2003 Sunstone Symposium in Salt Lake City, during the Mormon International Fringe Festival, and it was subsequently performed as a benefit for the Utah AIDS Foundation.

In this new show, Fales’ two kids are grown and he is fighting for us all to kick our cult habits, in an effort to think and act for ourselves.

Throughout his respected career in acting, Fales is an award-winning veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as two New York International Fringe Festivals, among others. The solo plays in his Mormon Boy Trilogy include Confessions of a Mormon Boy, Missionary Position, as well as Prodigal Dad.

The acclaimed actor earned his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in acting from the University of Connecticut; moreover, Fales holds extensive credits in film, television and theater.
