Review: ‘Log Horizon 2’ EP 16 shockingly introduces a female Shiroe

Episode 16 of Log Horizon 2, titled “The Midday Vampire,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll for paid members. Free members can watch this same episode seven days from now. I was shocked to learn that Isuzu’s father is a professional musician in the real world, which helped set up the new adventure that is being taken by the younger members of the titular Log Horizon.

I love how something heartfelt could turn morbid in a few seconds as the group talked about how the elks look majestic and peaceful.

The first half of the episode focuses on the young members of Log Horizon, who are currently learning what it means to be on a true adventure. It makes you think of those camping trips you must have taken when you were younger.

This points out the importance of using these trips to get to know and bond with each other because they will keep an eye on each other during battle. These are your friends, allies, comrades, and battle buddies.

I liked Riese and Akatsuki’s conversation on how they may not have been friends in the real world, which is likely true. They are bound together in an MMORPG game that they are unable to escape from and are in aligned guilds.

Henrietta’s response was funny because it reminded me of how much adoration she holds for Akatsuki, which can be on a psychotic and obsessive level.

The Akatsuki doll proves it, which made me laugh a lot.

Rundelhaus may have found his second calling as an agent, which makes me thing Shiroe should create a third class for him that specializes in “haggling” or “deal making.” I find that the traveling and performing angle works for these members as everybody, minus Rundelhaus, can perform on stage thanks to Isuzu’s bard ability.

I can imagine him doing diplomatic things in the future, but for now he looks like Log Horizon’s unofficial tour manager.

The surprising part of the episode is the introduction of Roe-2, who is a gender-swapped version of Shiroe’s character avatar.

I was surprised even more that Roe-2 is a vampire, which I never thought existed in the Elder Tale MMORPG.

This episode was enjoyable to watch because of the subplots brewing within the main plot and this Roe-2 woman has my attention. It feels like Shiroe has a long lost twin-sister or he got a sex change before being bitten by a vampire.
