Episode 2 of Isuca, titled “True Name,” is currently available on Crunchyroll for paid members. Free members can watch this episode roughly six days from now on February 6th. The episode begins with Sakuya, the titular Isuca, showing ingratitude at the humanoid two-tailed cat that actually helped them deal with a dangerous high-level thunder beast.
It is obvious that the two-tailed cat woman is not going down without a fight, which makes her a badass. If she was truly out for herself, then that girl would likely escape and start killing random strangers.
But, she didn’t and it makes me think Sakuya needs to watch Grimm and season eight of Supernatural because of Benny.
I was surprised that Shinichiro can learn the true name of anybody by being kissed and it does not have to be directly on the lips. This can lead to near infinite inside jokes let alone sexual ones if you are willing to let your mind sink in the gutter.
I laughed when Shinichiro is chosen to work in Sakuya’s house as the cook and housekeeper. I guess this is another point scored for the empowerment of women. This does, however, point out that Sakuya has a slovenly lifestyle at home, which most people do not even know about about.
Sakuya proves that she’s human like everybody else in terms of personality. She acts perfect on the outside, but is flawed within.
The scene with Nadeshiko-Sensei and Tama made me laugh because the latter refuses to wear any kind of underwear, which Sakuya thinks Shinichiro is some sort of sexual deviant.
Things get real awkward fast when Sakuya curls up in fear at the enemy because he embodies one of her two biggest fears, rats. I love how Shinichiro calls Sakuya out because of the way that she keeps the inside of her house.
It becomes one inadvertently perverted moment after another, which I find funny.
That does not compare to the level of perverted sexual humor in The Testament of Sister New Devil though, which I found the sexual humor to be insane though I completely have no problem with it at all.
I find episode two of Isuca to be entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
Watching this episode makes me fantasize of a crossover between Isuca and The Testament of Sister New Devil because Shinichiro would be Maria’s dream come true. I can imagine Basara and Sakuya joining forces because of their lineages.
