Brie Larson named ‘Best Actress’ at 2016 BAFTA awards

This marks Larson’s third major award win, after sweeping the Golden Globes in January and the Screen Actors Guild Awards for her lead role in Room.

While Larson was not present at the BAFTA ceremony, due to filming commitments, her director Lenny Abrahamson was there to accept the “Best Actress” trophy on her behalf, and he expressed her gratitude on behalf of the actress, and praised child actor Jacob Tremblay for his performance in the film, whom he dubbed as her “co-worker.” Emma Donoghue was responsible for the film’s screenplay.

In this BAFTA “Best Actress” category, Larson bested such noteworthy actresses as Dame Maggie Smith (The Lady in the Van), Cate Blanchett (Carol), Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl).
