This nomination is for his theatrical performance of John Merrick in the revival of The Elephant Man, which was well-received by Digital Journal. It was performed on Broadway at The Booth Theatre in the heart of New York City.
Cooper is nominated for “Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play” along with Steven Boyer for Hand to God, Ben Miles for Wolf Hall Parts One & Two, Bill Nighy for Skylight and Alex Sharp for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
In 2011, Cooper was named “Sexiest Man Alive,” and he has been nominated for a total of four Academy Awards throughout his acting career. These include nods for his acting roles in such films as Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and American Sniper; moreover, for producing the latter film, Cooper also received an Academy Award nomination for “Best Picture.”
