Guardians Team-Up #4 is currently available to purchase to read from Marvel Comics as April 1st was the release date. This is the fourth issue of the series, where members of the titular Guardians or the entire group team up with other people. The second issue had the Guardians of the Galaxy teaming up with one of the Avenger groups and the third issue had the group team up with the X-Men as part of the ongoing Black Vortex story arc.
These stories are straightforward, but that’s always a good thing because things are easier for us to understand.
This issue is a one-shot team-up between Gamora and She-Hulk over a case of mistaken identity, where they form a sisterly bond over the fact that they have green skin. I find the issue to be enjoyable to read and I think this week is somewhat dedicated to She-Hulk.
She-Hulk makes a major guest appearance in the recently released Wolverines #13, where Deadpool takes the “mantle of Wolverine” and challengers her to a fight because he’s too scared to challenge the Incredible Hulk.
What did I think of Guardians Team-Up #4?
This issue has a sisterly and kindred feel for starters.
I’m not surprised that there is a bounty placed on Gamora’s head, but that only serves as a catalyst to the main story. Gamora escapes from the intergalactic bounty hunters, but is poisoned in the process.
Gamora escapes and crash lands in the middle of New York City, where She-Hulk is walking to work and talking with one of her paralegals about a case involving Kingpin.
She-Hulk doubts Kingpin would go after her, but finds herself the target of the bounty hunters.
In layman speak, the hunters mistake She-Hulk for Gamora and that leads to an interesting confrontation.
She-Hulk does have her confrontation with Gamora, but it was subtle. I was hoping that it would be an action-packed fight, but Gamora passes out before then. As a consolation, Gamora does beat the living s—t out of a number of New York’s Finest.
I laughed at the way She-Hulk put a stop to Gamora, which was pretty juvenile. It was juvenile, but effective as it forced Gamora to burn herself out before losing consciousness. This was surprising, but I think it added to the story.
The next surprised me, where they got friendly over a bottle of whiskey. I was surprised that Gamora was the one suggesting whiskey, but I was also surprised that She-Hulk keeps at least one bottle in her apartment.
It ultimately becomes one of the most awesome team-ups as they used their combined skills to sent the bounty hunters running back home. This was the perfect combination of “mean green” and “girl power.”
This was enjoyable to read and it is obvious that they are kindred spirits. I believe that they can pass as biological sisters.
