Natalie Allman, 29, is a mother who was beaten by her ex-fiance in front of their kids, and he was sent to jail. She was battered and her throat was slashed by the man, Jason Hughes, and the ordeal lasted for around seven hours. He allegedly wanted to make her ugly because she ended the relationship.
However, he launched a legal battle against her while he was in jail, and now Allman has to provide him with regular updates about their twin sons, or she faces possible jail time.
A judge ordered Allman to write Hughes three times per year, and she has to send photos of the boys to him. This is due to parental rights laws in the UK.
The incident took place in February of 2012, and Hughes was staying with Allman until he found another place to live. Allman said Hughes was never aggressive in the past, but he did drink too much and he was controlling. She continued to say they were separated for a few weeks while he was staying with her. She said she woke up in the middle of the night, and Hughes was beating her in the face with weights.
Hughes bashed her repeatedly with the weights and he didn’t stop, regardless of all of the blood that was everywhere. Throughout the course of the night, Allman was attacked two more times, and she was tied up so she couldn’t escape.
Allman managed to call the police, and when they arrived they saw the two boys in bed with their mother, who was covered in her own blood. She survived the attack, with the knife just missing one of her major arteries.
Hughes was eventually sent to prisons for nine years, but last January Hughes’ attorney contacted Allman and demanded she sends six letters per year, and those letters were intended to update him on their kids.
Allman said that she couldn’t believe that she could possibly be sent to jail when she was the one who was attacked. She said she feels like she is being treated like a criminal.
