Watch man who broke into Five Guys cook himself burgers

The burglary occurred on Friday, March 18, 2016 between the hours of 3:10 a.m. and 5:05 a.m. at a Five Guys restaurant on Irving Street Northwest. But it was only yesterday the Metropolitan Police Department issued a release seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the culprit. Also released was a surveillance video taken inside the restaurant showing what the burglar did.

Although a police spokesman told the Washington Post, the video was too grainy to see what the thief actually cooked, it appears he is cooking burgers. In the video he can be seen turning on the grill and later putting two round objects that appear to be patties on it. He later flips the burgers and adds what appears to be cheese. After walking around for a bit, like a pro, he can be seen putting what appears to be buns on the grill. He later makes burgers and walks out of camera range. At one point while preparing his meal, he is observed talking on a cellphone.

According to police, the burglar gained entry to the Five Guys establishment by entering as a delivery person was leaving.

As the Daily Mail reports, it appears he was cooking Little Cheeseburgers. The cost of a Little Cheeseburger at Washington, D.C. Five Guy restaurants is $5.69. The value of the burgers and water taken is a lot less than the up to $1,000 D.C. Crime Solvers have put up for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the man who is being referred to as “the Hamburglar.”

To answer the age old question, he did not want fries with that.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department at (202) 727-9099.
