A devastating plane crash has rocked New York. In suburban Buffalo, a Continental Airlines 50-passenger commuter plane, flying from Newark to Buffalo, crashed on a home on Long Street at 10:20 p.m. ET Thursday night. Fifty have been reported dead, and among the seriously injured are the residents of the Buffalo home. Authorities say the home has been seriously damaged.

Nearby observers say the plane plummeted from the sky and crashed into a home in Clarence, 20 miles northeast of Buffalo. A fireball-like explosion rocked the quiet street. The plane was a Bombardier Dash 8, a two-engined turboprop, operated by Colgan Airways, as a feeder airline for Continental.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined. Investigators are currently on the scene to determine what evidence can be salvaged from the crash. Clarence residents near the crash have been evacuated.
