US stocks plunge 2% in broad-based sell-off

US stocks plunged around 2 percent Friday, sinking for a second straight day on concerns over emerging economies and disappointments in US corporate earnings.

The S&P 500 finished down 2.07 percent, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 1.91 percent. Meanwhile the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite lost 2.13 percent.
