At around 11:30 p.m.Wednesday, police responded to an “open-line” 911 call at a home on Magnolia Court south of 131st Street and west of 177th East Avenue in the Tulsa suburb of broken Arrow.
The word-less 911 call led to a gruesome discovery inside the home. Five people were found stabbed to death, a 13-year-old girl wounded, and a two-year-old girl who had escaped harm. The 13-year-old was alive but in serious condition. She was transported to a hospital and underwent surgery. She is now listed in stable condition. The two-year-old is in protective custody.
The police told NBC News that two male teenagers, ages 16 and 18 are in custody. The two teens allegedly ran out the back door of the home when police arrived on the scene. Police dogs tracked the two teens into the woods behind the home where they were arrested.
Broken Arrow Police Sgt. Thomas Cooper said the five people dead, the 13-year-old and the toddler were all related. Cooper described the scene inside the house as “gruesome,” and not what is common in the community. “It’s a relatively safe community,” said Cooper. “Something like this at this caliber is unprecedented of Broken Arrow.”
NBC News is reporting that Broken Arrow Police Cpl. Leon Calhoun told the Associated Press that police are having a difficult time notifying next of kin because so many different relatives were involved in the stabbings.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is now working with the Broken Arrow Police Department in investigating the stabbings. A warrant to search the home was procured and officers are now in the process of searching the home, according to KJRH2.com.
