Richard Barnett of Arkansas was taken into custody Friday morning in Little Rock by federal officials. The 60-year-old is charged with entering and remaining in restricted building grounds without authority, violent entry, disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, and theft of public property.
Barrett is shown in a video posted on Twitter taken by Matthew Rosenberg, a Washington-based reporter with the New York Times, after his stunt and admitted taking a personalized envelope from Pelosi’s desk. However, he left a quarter behind and says he didn’t steal it.

“Just because you’ve left the DC region you can still expect a knock on the door if we find out you were part of the criminal activity at the Capitol,” said Steven D’Antuono, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Washington field office, according to CNN News. “The FBI is not sparing any resources in this investigation,” he said.
Second arrest made in West Virginia
And newly sworn in West Virginia State lawmaker Derrick Evans, who took the oath of office on December 14, 2020, in Charleston, actually recorded a video of himself and fellow supporters of President Trump storming the Capitol on Wednesday. “We’re in! We’re in! Derrick Evans is in the Capitol!” the new lawmaker said live on video.
Evans was arrested at his Wayne County home. A woman who identified herself as his grandmother commented to WSAZ-TV, “He’s a fine man.” She added sarcastically, “And thank you Mr. Trump for inciting a riot at the White House.”
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin for the District of Columbia announced the charges against Evans during a press briefing today. The federal officials participating in the call said there would be more information later, according to Metro News.

“I just received word that we have now a signed complaint also against a Delegate who serves in the West Virginia Legislature,” said Ken Kohl, a top deputy federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C.
“He has been charged — and, I think, according to reports had recorded himself storming the Capitol — he is charged with entering a restricted area and entering the United States Capitol. That report is also being released today as well. That defendant’s name is Derrick Evans. Derrick Evans.”
In his defense, Evans contends he was videoing history and swept along with the crowd. But his own video depicts him calling out “Move! Move!” before going through the Capitol door, as security alarms blare.
